A Brand New Day at Awana

Hey leaders,

Quick post to ask you ... what do you think of the new Awana look? What about the new branding approach? This has been in the works for awhile, and with it we are praying that we present ourselves more clearly than we ever have before.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Inside Info: January 25th was a big day for Awana. We launched our Project Joseph initiative at a special event at the Children's Pastors Conference in Orlando, Florida. Read more about Project Joseph, including a bold new advertising campaign and a brand new study of the long-term impact of Awana in the lives of our alumni.

# re: A Brand New Day at Awana

Well, while Awana Clubs International officially changed its named to Awana and worked on the rebranding, the local clubs really have not been made aware of the corporate activities taking place and so I do not believe they share the same 'excitement' as the corporate office.

While I like the new logo for Awana, I do not see anywhere where the new "Awana Clubs" logo is displayed (except for the "About Us" page on the main web site) and any explanation for the change.

I know it is because "Awana" encompasses more than just "Awana Clubs", but I do not see that explained anywhere, nor have I seen information sent to the local churches about the change.

The Modern Day Joseph looks interesting, but I don't see much 'meat' to it yet, just promotional material. Is this a new 'division' of Awana, or does this fall under another 'division', like HomeBase? This is not clearly defined.

It seems to me that there are a lot of things being developed (RI, HomeBase, Kid Matters, MDJ, etc.) and nothing is completely 'fleshed out', but rather all in various stages of development and the local club, which is asked to promote these initiatives are not kept up-to-date on revisions made to the initiatives.

I don't intend for this to be a 'negative' response, just an observation from someone 'in the trenches' trying to stay caught up on all the Awana initiatives and trying to understand their place in the 'big picture'.

# A Brand New Day at Awana

Makes sense, looks clean, easy to understand and explain to others.  It looks like a well thought out approach to the overall organization that will make it easier to add and subtract things as needed.

I'm just now looking at the Project Joseph materials - there should be a warning on the web page to people that it's nearly 50mb of info to load on their computer, and that's just the zipped file!

Can't quite decide - I love the new clean lines and sharp typography. It doesn't look quite as kid-friendly anymore though - is it "too cool" for real Awana?

Also, I would look into making a little more contrast in the main top nav buttons on the site - the white on yellow is tough on my fully-functional eyes.  : - )

I went to the clip art page, but no new logo to use?

I read Com. Bill's comments above and feel sort of the same.  I keep getting a lot of new projec info but have to do a lot of research to see how to use them (i.e., Home-Based).  We are now looking at Project Joseph and MDJ book from Larry Fowler and because I trust him and Awana I'm hanging in to see the completed project.  We will use all of Awana products because of the bottom line message and quality of materials.  It would be easier if there was a full summary of what the programs are to accomplish - whether Awana material or church-wide materials.

What do you think?
