    Re: Book time problems

I think it benefits everyone to keep the small groups 4 or fewer, so until you have 4 leaders you should be wearing the hat of Director and Leader. I agree with others that book time is a good time to let the small group leaders take there cubbies to different areas. I think preschoolers enjoy floor time to chair time. During Story Time if the small group leaders sit on the floor with their designated group, then this can help maintain order. If you can get carpet squares or pillows for the cubbies to sit on, that might help.

I kind of left this thread hanging... sorry about that!  I talked to my Commander and he agrees with me that until we have more leaders, I will have to assist with Handbook time.  We do have one new leader as of last night, so if we can get one more, we can run it the way he wants to!  My goal is to have 4 or less per leader.  Right now we will be at  3-4 per leader, with me taking a group.  We also were able to arrange to have another table moved to our room.  Space is not an issue as we are in a very large room.  The room is set up a little weird, as it's used for a kindergarten class the rest of the week, but we make do with that.

We're figuring out some things that work well and some that haven't, but overall, our club has been going great!

At the Awana conference last weekend they recommended that you have 1 leader for every 4 Cubbies.  I thought that a great book time idea was to sit the clubbers in a circle and roll the ball to each clubber;   they say the verse when the ball comes to them and you can have a leader sign the books when they say the verse.
