Re: When do you have your club?

I'm interested in hearing from all of you who mentioned that you have dinner for leaders and clubbers at the church. How does this work? Does the church provide the dinner? Who prepares it?

I used to be at a Friday night club. Loved it, and so did the parents (a safe place for their kids to go on Friday nights) and so did most of the leaders. We could start a wee bit later and it was okay because it wasn't a school night. We saw a huge increase in the number of unsaved kids attending, which was awesome. The choice of Friday night worked far better than I ever anticipated it would, and I was a die-hard midweek proponent. I would definitely choose Fridays again, if given a choice.

    Blessings, Nancy

Our church has a school sized kitchen (church has a private school on campus during school day) that people work and cook. The bulletins on sunday have sunday's and wednesday's special. There's no special prices, same are wednesday as sunday.

We have youth, worship practice, and Awana all on the same night, and different things occur at different times. I think kitchen opens at 5:30pm

Re: When do you have your club?

Our dinner is offered to anyone who has something to do at church that night, not just Awana people.  We have one lady who coordinates a bunch of volunteers who take turns cooking and serving.  At the welcome desk we have clipboards where you can sign up for various events or ministries.  One of them is for the kitchen, they usually have the menu planned out out for the month or at least a few weeks at a time.  They only say what the main course is and they offer an alternate meal if someone doesn't like that.  It used to be called the kids meal.   For example in an upcoming week the menu  is meatball subs or mac and cheese.  You sign up by putting down your name and how many of each meal you need  by the sunday before so to eat this wednesday, I needed to sign up yesterday.  Then whoever is cooking, or the kitchen coordinator not really sure, goes out and buys everything needed to make food for the number of people signed up plus a few more sometimes in case you get last minute diners.  On wednesday, you pay for the meal, $2.50 per person.

Re: When do you have your club?

Our dinners started out as somewhat warm pizza and has grown into a team that comes and cooks. They take advantage of whatever is donated (usually left over from Celebrate Recovery). We never know what we will have until that night, although there is almost always hot dogs. Cost is miminal, Adults $2, 6th grade and under $1, Family max. $8. And it available to anyone who is at church that night.

Re: When do you have your club?

Seems like we run the latest- Wed., 7:00 to 8:30pm- during the Wed. Night Church Service.

It's all good.  A few complaints about the time.  More complaints about kids being so excited about Awana that they can't calm down and go to sleep very easily.  I think it's a good problem to have!  Wink  I would love it if my daughter was so excited about church, God, and Awana that it took her awhile to go to sleep!

Re: When do you have your club?

We have ours on Sunday nights from 5:30-7:00. Our church is from 6:00-7:00. I am so glad we started out doing it on Sunday nights. It works well for our church.
