I understand that it's hard getting ideas for theme nights. When we have theme nights at our church, we do not choose the theme night to match the lesson but rather participate with our entire AWANA program. We make sure that the theme nights are something that all kids can participate in. We have a theme night each month and here are the ones that we are using:

Camouflage Night

B.A.R.F. Night (Bring a Friend Night) - we couple this night with Sports Night so that the children visiting will not feel left out because they can dress up too!!

P.J. Night

Crazy/Ugly Tie Night

Crazy Hat Night

Wacky Hair Night (This by far has been the favorite for all ages!!) - We actually had a Cubbie come in with a Smiley Face shaved in the top of his head. (He and his younger brother were getting haircuts the next day - buzz cuts)

Old Fashioned Night

Red, White, & Blue Night (Wear something red, white, & blue)

Hi Mrs. Karen. Let me start off by saying this is my third year as a Cubbies Director, and being involved with Awana at all. Last year I discovered this forum and it was a life saver. I remember some really great advice you gave that helped our growing club, by the end of last year we had 60 cubbies! I would greatly appreciate if you could email me the word document you have for the Hopper alternative lessons, and if you happen to have one for Jumper I'd love that also. I've learned over the past couple years that the more options you have the more fun your Cubbies will have. I love having as many alternative ideas to choose from.
