Re: Cubbies say the darnest things!

we were doing the pledges, and right before we started the american flag one of our cubbies said, "I dont have Jesus in my heart no more. I lost him."

My roommate and I (we both work with cubbies this semester) were laughing in between trying to do the american flag pledge. I had to stop laughing to do the Awana flag, because I was the only one who knew it. I felt bad that we laughed but it was so cute.

I sure hope one of you took the time to explain to this child that he couldn't "lose" Jesus once he had invited Him into His heartIndifferent

Re: Cubbies say the darnest things!

You have all heard me say this before-they are NEVER, NEVER , NEVER too young to hear and to understand! Even a Puggler age child should be hearing the gospel message and that they are sinners and that Jesus died for them. There are many children that make their salvation decisions at ages three to four.  They are capable of understanding much more than we realize.

I am proud of you for realizing that you should have told himSmile You know-this week isn't too late to fix that. Simply make time in your teaching time with him to include the comment that "Jesus can never be lost once we invite Him into our hearts."  Praying for you to have the courage and the right words when the time comes

I agree. Recently when I was sharing with others how excited I am to be starting Cubbies in just under 2 weeks someone said that we'd just be babysitting, that little ones couldn't understand salvation properly. I was fortunate that my hubby was there, as he (and his siblings) all made decisions before they started school.

Sure, little ones might not understand all the theology and stuff but they do know when they've done the wrong thing (so they know they're sinners) and they have an amazing capacity to grasp God's love for us.

Re: Cubbies say the darnest things!

Recently i told a new Cubbie how big he was getting (after not seeing him for a while) to which he matter of factly replied "Yep, I can slay dragons now".  So cute!  If someone would just follow me and take notes during the club night i would have so much to share, they are very very funny and precious, but i'm afraid that i can't remember my own name at the end of the night so i lose all the cute stories i should be sharing!  God loves our Cubbies!Big Smile

we have a few cute ones that like to say the funniest things or doing funny stuff.

We have one that my roommate loves because when she first met him, he just kept saying "hi" to everyone.

Another one, always hides behind his dad when he comes to club. I go around the dad and say "clay I see you!" When I say that, he realizes that its the same people thats there every week and comes out from hiding and is normal.

Re: Cubbies say the darnest things!

we had a cubbie who wouldn't want to stay in the room last night because he wasn't feeling good, so he got to see what his brother and sister were doing in sparks and T&T, then the commander decided to call his mom, so I returned back to the cubbies' room after leaving him with the commander. Coming back, I told the leaders he was sick, one of my favorite cubbies (my roommate's too) who always says hi to every one said "y wa ick" (or something like that).

I almost started laughing because it sounded like "YHWH" one of the names of our awesome God.

Re: Cubbies say the darnest things!

We did bear hug 20 this week.  I made a simple bread recipe broke it in 5 parts and wrapped in foil for the five loaves and made to fish out of yellow construction paper, and brought it all in a basket.  during story time when it was time to see what the boy had brought and count the loaves anf fish, as I pulled out a fish, i said ok what have we got in here?  one little boy immediately shouts out "paper!"  Then the disciples(leaders) broke off pieces of the the bread and gave some to each cubbie.  After the story I was asking questions about what had happened, i asked, what was in the lunch in the story?  a different boy answerred "monkeybread."  Which is what we had just eaten.  I may have to review this lesson at some point and make sure all the kids understand that the 5000 people ere not fed monkeybread and construction paper.

we did bear hug 19 last night. One of our clubbers was talking to the commander, he was like "Jesus died." "where did he go after that?" "to heaven" "that's right" "And he went to jail."

(the navy was the commander talking to the lil boy, it was cute. same lil guy who said he lost jesus). Its amazing how much the kids understand

Re: Cubbies say the darnest things!

Last night we did BH 19 and set up a "jail cell"  (Just black streamer paper from ceiling to floor) and had "chains" (paper chains made during coming in time).  We played musical chairs and if you couldn't find a seat, you had to go to jail.  The first group to get "thrown in Jail" were just devastated.  I couldn't believe that it scared them a little.  If you went to jail you even got a Cubbie hand stamp.  After the first time, we couldn't keep them out of jail.  Some Cubbies went 4-5 times. ....but others had to be caught, because they would play the game so well they wouldn't get thrown in jail!  FUN!

we give every cubbie a hand stamp when they come in. One cubbie's grandma is the secretary and he sneaks into the cubbie room before he get a hand stamp, so if I remember, I take him back out there to get one.

I subbed last night (I'm usually just a Journeygal).

We played duck-duck-goose, and when one of the cubbies tapped me on the head, the little one sitting next to me looked up in awe as I stood up, and said "She's...giant!"

This is to a girl who is 5'8, and skinny.

    Big Smile
