    lauriep:

I e-mailed customer service and the Sparkies dept. We have over 50 kids in the HangGlider rank and have experienced all of the wings problems mentioned above. Customer service responded very helpfully and indicated that they are well aware of the problems and are working with their vendors to improve the wings. So anyone having problems should contact customer service and they'll take care of you.

Thanks. I will let them know

    Re: New "Wings" quality

We have 15-20 kids in Kinder Sparks in HangGlider, so receiving wings.  Haven't heard of any problems yet, but I know one Spark lost the clutch back of one of her pins...but I lose the clutch back of any of my pins like that, usually...so didn't cross my mind could be an ongoing issue.

My daughter has received all her green and red jewels and one blue so far, and none of been loose or fallen out.

    I wonder if it's a batch problem?

I'll let you know if I hear of anything with ours.

thanks Jodi! I think they were doing the same with the badges for T&T falling apart, so I figured they were doing the same with the wings.

    Re: New "Wings" quality

I emailed and didn't hear anything back....but last week we received a package from HG with a 5-pack of wings in it.  I looked to see if it was a backorder, but I couldn't find record that wings had been backordered in any of my orders....think this was their reply to my email???

Then this week three T&T badges came in from leaders.  The top layer pealed off two of them, and the pin catch broke on the third.

PS Monday morning:  I looked at the invoice again and the Customer Order NO. says "wings replacement."  Answers that question.

    Re: New "Wings" quality

Our club is having trouble with the jewels popping out after the secretary puts them in.  They don't snap in like the harder crowns.  We were going to use glue but it would be nice not to need to do that.  It could get messy.

By the way, we do not remove the wings from the clubbers vest, we have them bring their award slip to the secretary and she pops them in right there.  That way we are not removing the backs many times.  The Director picks up the slips for award announcements so they get acknowledged.

    Re: New "Wings" quality

We are having problems with the wings cracking, the backs falling off, and the jewels popping out. They are so cute, but aren't working as well as the crowns. It's definitely costing us more in supply replacements.

    Re: New "Wings" quality

We give our jewels in little zip lock bags and the parents put them on so the wings don't have to be removed.

Contact HQ  & they will replace or credit your account. Our leaders don't remove wings they just pop jewels in

    Re: New "Wings" quality

We do the mini ziploc bags as well...one for each jewel. Then we seal it into an envelope when it is award time.  We instruct them to wait until their parent help them, which doesn't always happenWink, but for the most part it does.

Yes, Awana simply sent us a package of wings when I emailed them about our breakage.  This experiment in revising the material they use for the Sparks is going to cost them a little...I hope they come up with something better for next year!!

We haven't had the jewels falling out but our clubbers are constantly losing their pin backs.

Actually, my son has lost several jewels out of his crown. If we have the hanglider jewels they aren't staying in the crown well. We;ve gone through about 8 red jewels I think. I'm just going to wait till the end of the year and then make sure J has the full crown he should have.
